As part of the food waste initiative and sustainable Sutherland Food project we offer items of food that have been collected from the local Co-op on reaching their ‘display until’ or ‘best before’ date. This food is available free of charge to anyone who comes to collect it from the SCF office, Craig House, Main Street, Golspie during opening times and food is also delivered by the SFC Manager to some vulnerable people to their homes. Thousands of tons of good quality edible food goes to landfill every day while people go hungry and this initiative helps prevent such waste and lower our carbon footprint. We are also linked with Fareshare through their CFine organisation which allows us to provide tinned or dried foods to those who are struggling to make ends meet.
